Q | should i stay at the same hotel as the couple ?
A | as much as we would love for everyone to stay under the same roof, we understand that everybody has their own travel preferences. for those that would like to stay at hacienda xcanatun, you can expect logistics to/from wedding events to be coordinated by us with pick-ups/drop-offs at hacienda xcanatun. things to consider include:

A | nightly rates can vary from $143 usd to $295 usd for their most basic rooms depending on high/low seasons. we recommend taking a look at hacienda xcanatun’s published rates here. also be sure to shop around with the major travel websites. jorge + aracely booked through hotels.com.
Q | what if i do not want to stay at xcanatun ?
A | we totally understand if you would rather stay somewhere else. if xcanatun is not your vibe, we recommend you consider staying in centro merida. see the “hotels” section under the travel page for more recommendations. and if the hotels we recommend do not work for you, simply google merida centro hotels; there are endless options.
Q | when should i book my flight and hotel ?
A | when to book your flight and hotel is a personal choice. jorge + aracely have traveled quite a bit and like to book flights + hotels eight months in advance. there is however conflicting ideology on when to book. a nerdwallet study indicates that booking a hotel 15 days in advance can yield savings of 13%. if you know the couple well, you know that jorge would never . . . under any circumstance. another nerdwallet study indicates that booking flights 54 days in advance yields the best deals.
Q | what will the weather be like ?
A | the weather conditions in yucatan in november are generally pleasant with some humidity. you can expect very warm maximum average daytime temperatures around 32C (89F) and nightime temperatures around 19C (67F) in merida. these night and day temperatures are an average and some days may be even warmer. so be prepared and bring light clothes.
Q | what is the dress code ?
A | for the welcome dinner on monday, the dress code is cocktail attire.
the wedding is formal. for women a floor-length gown, fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit. for men, a suit is recommended (tie optional). while we want everyone to look their best, we also want everyone to feel comfortable. for women we strongly recommend you wear shoes you feel comfortable in while walking on cobblestone.
for the brunch on wednesday, the dress code is dressy casual attire. for women, a daytime dress, romper, jumpsuit or lightweight separates. for men, a light dress shirt or polo with khakis, other lightweight slacks, or dress jeans. following brunch we will head over to the pool on the property. you are welcome to pack a swimsuit and take a dip!
Q | uber everywhere ?
A | uber is available everywhere except the airport. for those staying in downtown merida, the town is very walkable and taxis are easy to grab if needed. make sure to bring pesos!
Q | pesos ?
A | while some places may take credit cards, we highly recommend you order some pesos from your bank (usually free of charge) prior to your trip or at the airport atm when you arrive. give your bank a few days notice. the exchange rate changes daily however, the peso usually hovers around 1/20 of a dollar. a quick rule of thumb to convert pesos to dollars is to move the decimal place to the left one position, then divide the remaining number in half. for example, 200 pesos is roughly 10 dollars. for today’s exchange rate visit fx-rate.
Q | can i bring a date ?
A | if your invitation says “+ guest”, than yes. if not, please contact us directly but please understand we are limited on the number of guests our venue can accommodate.
Q | are children invited ?
A | although we love your little ones, this is an adult only celebration.
